The Experience of Vobra Special Petfoods

Remco, Manager of the QC Quality Team at Vobra, shares his experiences with the NIRGO. The NIRGO is a combination of NutriControl's calibration curves and Si-Ware's NeoSpectra Scanner. It is a portable NIR instrument that allows you to perform quality analyses whenever and wherever you want. The QC team of three colleagues under Remco's supervision works with the NIRGO daily. He explains how the NIRGO has significantly improved and simplified their work.

The Challenges for the NIRGO

Previously, we only had a benchtop NIR instrument. Due to the different production halls within Vobra, this was sometimes a time-consuming process. It meant that we had to continuously walk back and forth between the production location and the lab to test samples. Additionally, not everyone could work with that system.

The Solution: NIRGO Portable NIR Scanner

With the introduction of the NIRGO portable NIR scanner, this process has drastically improved. Now we can scan samples directly at the production location or in the warehouse and see the results in real-time.

The NIRGO is particularly user-friendly. In the future, we plan to involve the operators with the NIRGO so they can perform quality controls themselves, increasing their engagement in the production process. This leads to a better understanding and familiarity with the products they work with. The process is simple: just scan, and the data is immediately visible.

Another major advantage is the mobility of the NIRGO. The device can easily be taken wherever it is needed, greatly enhancing our flexibility. We recently built a second factory. Instead of having to set Results and Recommendation

The results from the NIRGO are comparable to those of fixed NIR instruments, but the flexibility and time savings are unparalleled. We recommend the NIRGO for anyone who needs to take samples regularly. It is much easier and faster to use, and within a minute, you have complete information about the quality of your raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products.

Future Perspective

We realize that much more is possible with the available technology. We need to take small steps towards an innovative future, and the NIRGO is an important step we have taken in that direction. Although we do not yet have all the calibration curves we would like, we know that these are under development at NutriControl.
