Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs)

Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCBs), or aroclor mixtures belong to the aromatic hydrocarbon group with two benzene rings. They are made synthetically and do not occur naturally. PCBs were used, among other things, as plasticizers in plastics, in paint, ink, varnish and glue, insecticides. They were also used in transformers and capacitors as insulating liquid.
